Google Summer of Code 2007 Over

I participated in Google Summer of Code competition for the first time in this year. Wow! it was so great! It’s true that I had some really terrible times when the university workload clashed with my project, yet I managed to complete it successfully πŸ™‚

One Down Seven to Go

Final year exams just started today. Eight subjects in total and now only seven left. Isn’t that great πŸ™‚

A Walk to Remember

It’s been few years since the production of the movie “A Walk to Remember” but I only had the chance few months back to have a look at it. Frankly I believe it’s as one of the most inspiring films. The story is very much romantic, but at the same time the bitter sadness of loosing the loved girl (Jamie) of Landon runs behind the play. Yet it is not to be consider as a film with a tragic ending. I say this because it’s not the death of Jamie which is highlighted in the film. In fact it is not even shown but narrated. The fact highlighted is that true love can really change the way of a person. The character of Landon is the one which is brought to good from bad. Jamie is the sole reason behind it. She teach him the way of life and its meaning informally which is carved into Landon’s heart. The film also emphasizes the value of forgiveness. Thus as a whole this film really fits to its tag line of ” Love is like the wind. You cannot see it but you can always feel it”. My view is that the departure of Jamie gives more value to the word “feel”.

It’s always a pleasure to see such films which talk to the viewer’s heart. Have a look at this film in IMDB at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0281358/

Final Year Started

After having a wonderful internship at WSO2 we had to come back to university to complete our final year. It started on 14th May. Wow! The past three years seems like a dream that came and went in no time. Life was/is busy always. This time there is no different but wish this would be more challenging and fun πŸ™‚

Good Old Friends

I was glad to meet the four best school time friends again at the beach of Matara. It’s been years since we five couldn’t meet all together. I met some other friends of mine too at the same time. Here are some of the photos I got hold of. dsc00139.jpg

John W. Backus Passed Away

Backus was one of the greatest personal to change the way of programming with the invention of Fortran. He passed away at the age of 82 serving the call of destiny. May he find peace in his journey.

β€œYou need the willingness to fail all the time. You have to generate many ideas and then you have to work very hard only to discover that they don’t work. And you keep doing that over and over until you find one that does work.”

Running on the Beach

My good old friend, Heshan, and I started running on the beach as a fat burn out exercise. In fact I never thought it would give such impact on me. It’s not like running on normal ground. Each footstep presses the sand giving less pain in the ankle. The breeze and the view gives you the best inspiration to push the limits of your body. Wow! It really is awesome.

I need to give my heartiest thanks to the person who kept me pushing all the time. It is my fiancee who was the reason for all this.Β  Ah! I need to thank Heshan too because he came with me to run πŸ™‚
